Carbon footprint
What is the Carbon Footprint?
A company's carbon footprint is a measure of the total greenhouse gas emissions caused by the company's activities calculated in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). A company's carbon footprint can be divided into three categories:scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3. These categories are used to distinguish between different sources of emissions.
Scope 1
Are the direct emissions that a company generates from its own sources.
Scope 2
Are indirect emissions that result from the generation of electricity, heat, or steam that the company uses, and scope
Scope 3
Are indirect emissions that result from the company's activities, but which occur outside of the company's direct control.
